Terms and Conditions
In these terms and conditions, the following words have the following meanings:
This/the/User Agreement – The terms and conditions and the information set out in writing
Collection Notice – The provision of a date for garment/article collection
Deposit Fee – The amount specified in relation to the service
Disposal Notice – The provision of a legal document upon expiry of initial collection period. This document provides a further 30-day notice period for collection, which upon expiry allows Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations to dispose of any garments/articles of clothing.
Garments – Any article of clothing associated to the customer
Instructions – Guidance provided by customer in respect of work to be carried out
Our Fees – The amount agreed for alterations to be paid by you before work commences.
Services – Garment Alterations or Tailoring
Third Party/parties – External services that are in no way associated to Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations
We/us/our/ Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations – Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations
You/Your/Customer – The customer enlisting the professional services of Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations
Limitation of Warranties
By using Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations services and paying a deposit, you understand and agree that all Services we provide are “as is” and “as available”. This means that we do not represent or warrant to you that:
1.0. The use of our services will meet your needs or requirements.
1.1. The use of our Services will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or free from errors.
1.2. The information obtained by using our Services will be accurate or reliable.
1.3. Any defects in the operation or functionality of any Services we provide will be repaired or corrected.
Furthermore, you understand and agree that:
1.4. Any content downloaded from our website or otherwise obtained through the use of our Resources or services is done so at your own discretion and risk, and that you are solely responsible for any damage to your computer or other devices for any loss of data that may result from the download of such content.
1.5. No information or advice, whether expressed, implied, oral or written, obtained by you from Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations or through any Resources or Services we provide shall create any warranty, guarantee, or conditions of any kind, except for those expressly outlined in these terms & conditions.
1.6. In conjunction with the Limitation of Warranties as explained above, you expressly understand and agree that any claim against us shall be limited to the amount you paid less any material or travel costs, if any, for use of products and/or services. Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or exemplary loss or damages which may be incurred by you as a result of using our services, or as a result of any changes, data loss or corruption, cancellation, loss of access, or downtime to the full extent that applicable limitation of liability laws apply.
2.0. Working Relationship
2.1. Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations reserves the right to cancel any and all work should the Terms and Conditions be breached.
2.2. Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations reserves the right to cancel any and all work should the client refuse payment.
3.0 Appointments
All fitting consultations are by appointment only. We discuss options and possibilities of how best to alter your garments for the best outcome at all times. Please remember to bring your shoes and well-fitted undergarments (if necessary) to ensure we can fit your garments well. Please ensure u arrive on time . Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations reserve the right to charge for missed appointments if no notice or less than 24 hours’ notice is given for cancellations. Should this happen, a customer will be notified and the charge of £30 (per appointment) added to the final alteration costs.
2.0. Quote Terms
2.1. The quote is valid for one Calander month from the date the quote is sent to the client.
2.2. Any alterations to this quote will be confirmed in writing and sent to the client. The new quote, once agreed by the client will supersede any previous agreements. Due to the speed of production, these changes may be discussed in person and confirmed in writing via email in lieu of this form.
3.0. Emergency Fitting Fees
We charge for emergency fitting consultations, £40.00 per hour for private clients and £60.00 per hour for bridal garments. A 50% deposit is required prior to alterations starting. Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations can offer home fittings to private clients at their sole discression: milage and travels cost are added to the final bill.
4.0. Payments
4.1. Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations provides credit card and debit card payment facilities for retail transactions. All non-bridal alterations fees are to be paid upon collection or before.
4.2 Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations reserves the right to cancel any contract if the payment terms are not met.
5.0. Deposits
5.1. By entering into a business relationship with Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations, you agree to our “Deposit Fee,” structure as below, which is applied to all transactions for bridal based tailoring and alterations. This Deposit Fee secures your alteration package and initial first appointment date with Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations. The Deposit is non-refundable.
5.2. Bridal Alterations Deposit: of 25 per cent of the total payable.
6.0. Refunds & Cancellations
6.1. We’re confident that you will be happy with your alterations. We understand, however, that sometimes an alteration may not be what you expected it to be. In that unlikely event, we invite you to review the following terms related to refunds, returns, and subsequent alterations to correct original alterations.
6.2. All garments altered using our alteration services are non-refundable. All made-to-order garments or bespoke alterations are made specifically for you, they are exempt from any exchange or refund policy.
6.3. Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations shall not be liable for any loss relating to a change in the dimensions of the customer after the final fitting was undertaken.
6.4. Because each garment is subjectively tailored/altered, we do not offer any refunds, exchanges or returns for any alterations that have been performed by Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations or associated third parties, regardless of the client’s level of satisfaction If a refund or cancellation is requested after 24 hours of the initial meeting with Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations, it is at the sole discretion of Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations to refund or cancel the order but any administrative/processing or servicing fees will not be refunded under any circumstance. Administrative/Processing fees are charged at £20.00 per hour. Once an order is placed, work on the garment commences shortly thereafter and expenses are incurred by our business as part of the tailoring/alteration process.
6.5. When Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations and a customer commence a business relationship (at the time when payment information is provided by Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations), whereby Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations performs an alteration and/or a tailoring service in exchange for payment, the customer clearly understands that there is a risk associated with tailoring/altering a garment, since tailoring/altering a garment involves subjective work and there is no objective way to measure the quality and satisfaction related to an alteration, from start to finish.
6.6. The customer understands that Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations may alter and/or tailor a garment such that the customer could be unhappy with the final result for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to: the resulting garment (following an alteration) is deemed unalterable, damaged or unfixable. In any of these aforementioned events, Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations will not provide a refund or exchange under any circumstance.
6.7. In the event that a garment is deemed unalterable, defective or damaged by a customer following Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations work on a garment, Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations will not provide a refund or exchange and will not replace the garment or compensate the customer for the replacement cost or re-sale value of the garment.
6.8. However, in the event of an unfavourable situation, Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations will always make best faith efforts (at its sole discretion) to achieve a solution. If you are unhappy for any reason, we are 100% committed to working with you to achieve a solution. Should this situation arise, Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations will indicate (at its sole discretion) the level of work and therefore number of hours required to achieve a mutually agreed solution. Should this number of hours be exceeded, Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations have sole right to refuse further work on the garment in question.
6.9. Our expected timeline for completing clothing alterations is 1calander week, depending on volume. For bridal alterations including our bridal alterations package, this often takes places from start to finish over 3 appointments and as standard 8 weeks before the wedding date, leaving a two Calander weeks breathing room. This may on occasion stretch to 4 appointments, but this is at the discretion of Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations and the customer will be duly notified in such circumstances. Whilst we do our best to meet the above expected time frames, timing is subject to change (without notice) based on a range of factors that are sometimes outside of the control of Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations. Even if there is a material delay in the timeframe with respect to a client alteration, refunds and/or cancelations are not permitted under any circumstance. Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations (at its sole discretion) will make best faith efforts to remedy any unfavourable situations with the customers co-operation.
7.0 Work Specification and Defects
Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations will prepare a detailed description for each garment, recording the customer’s measurements and garment alteration instructions (‘The Scope of Work). If a garment is unacceptable to the customer due to the alterations not being carried out following ‘The Scope of Work, Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations shall (at their sole discretion) aim to ensure an acceptable outcome. Any additional alterations or alterations differing from the previous appointments/initial customer ‘instructions’ will be subject to further alteration costs. The customer is encouraged to collect the garment themselves (not via a third party) and to inspect it thoroughly for any defects in the collection appointment. However, we cannot accept responsibility for any further or remedial alterations connected to the original work once the garment is collected and has left company premises.
8.0 Measurements
8.1.By using Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations to obtain body or garment measurements, the client explicitly agrees that Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations does not assume any liability for said measurements in any capacity including but not limited to the resulting fit or garment quality from using such measurements, as different companies translate and interpret measurements differently.
8.2.The client further understands that Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations does not make any representations regarding the quality or accuracy of its measurements nor does it assume any responsibility or liability for said measurements should the measurements be used to create any garment, alter any garment and/or purchase any garment (custom or not custom) from a third-party company.
8.3. Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations shall not be liable for any loss relating to a change in the dimensions of the customer after the final fitting was undertaken.
9.0. Intellectual property
9.1. A toile (mock-up) maybe required in some circumstances (such as working with expensive material or a pattern). This is an additional cost and Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations reserved the right to turn away work if the client does not wish to have a toil made.
9.2. If requested by the client Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations can facilitate Home Visits. Customer requiring home or onsite visits for design, consultation and /or fittings, travel expenses will be agreed beforehand in writing and added to the final invoice.,
9.3. Fittings will be arranged at the convenience of Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations and the client. Should the client need to cancel a fitting appointment they must inform Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations as soon as possible.
9.3B If Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations has travelled for the fitting which has been missed or cancelled the travel expenses and cost of fitting will be invoiced.
9.4. Any work with a timeline shorter than 8 weeks may incur additional fees and full payment is required upfront instead of the normal payment schedule.
10.0 Uncollected Items & Disposal
10.1. Failure by Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations to notify the Customer of an order being ‘ready for collection’ is not grounds for compensation. The Customer has an obligation to make reasonable arrangements for collection of their order.
10.2. Please note alteration customers have 10 Calander days to collect their goods from the first notice of completion and collection. Following the expiry of the 10-day window, Customers will be provided with a disposal notice. Upon expiry of the disposal notice, clothing will be disposed of either by charitable donation or through sale of goods to recover company costs. Collections made during the notice of disposal timeframe, may (at Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations any’s discretion) incur storage costs charged at £3 per day and payable prior to collection.
10.3. Please note Bridal alteration customers have 14 working days to collect their goods following their completion and collection notice. Following the expiry of the 14-day collection period, Customers will be provided with a disposal notice. Upon expiry of this notice, items will be disposed of either by charitable donation or through sale of goods with all profits donated to a charitable cause. Collections made during the disposal notice timeframe, may (at Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations discretion) incur storage costs charged at £10 per day and payable prior to collection. Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations can store bridal gowns and other bridal alterations for up to 3 months (12 weeks) following a collection notice, however storage must be agreed upon in advance and is subject to a minimum storage fee of £30 per week.
10.4. By using our service, you agree that we are not liable for the loss of your clothing after the above timeframes have expired.
12. Insurance and Liability for Clothes
12.1. Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations will take the utmost care of your items. All garments left with us are entirely at the owner’s risk. Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations has insurance for garments in its possession but cannot guarantee every individual customer item. Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations cannot accept liability for clothes damaged whilst in the care of any third party – for example dry cleaners, invisible menders – who are engaged on your behalf. Their terms and conditions will automatically apply.
13.0 Wear and tear
13.1. We cannot be responsible for damages that are caused by personal wear and/or wear and tear that is caused from use or overuse. To be clear, our warranty does not cover damage caused by a personal accident, improper care (i.e; excessive dry cleaning or mishandling by your dry cleaner), negligence, normal wear and tear, or the natural breakdown of colours and materials over extended time and use.
13.1.a. Please keep in mind that certain fabrics can be very delicate; garments need to be treated with the finest care. If you want some recommendations on best practices to enhance the longevity of your garments, please reach out to us. Dry-cleaning your garments regularly is not recommended. Most dry cleaners use harmful chemicals and agents that destroy or breakdown the fabric, thereby diminishing performance and durability.
13.2. Any holes that result from normal wear and tear will be deemed the responsibly of the client. We are committed to helping you find a solution to repair your garment, but each instance will be handled on a case by case basis.
14.0 Force Majeure
14.1. If, Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations are subject to circumstances outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to war, insurrection, riot, fire, industrial disputes, civil commotion, terrorism, pandemics or act of god. We shall notify you and such notification shall have the effect of suspending our obligations under this contract until we notify you that the event of Force Majeure no longer applies.
15.0 Shipping/Courier
15.1. In the event that you use Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations to ship or courier a garment to any location, Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations will NOT be liable for any loss or damage, if the carrier loses or damages the package. If you would like Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations to insure the package, it is your sole responsibility to request that insurance and an additional fee will be applied.
16.0 Photography
16.1 Photographs will be taken throughout the construction/repair/alteration of your garment and at fittings and on completion.
16.2. Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations will take and keep photos of the garments for training and quality control purposes,
16.3. Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations will ask the permission of the client to use images taken during the process for use on the website, www.seamstresshoneybee.com and associated social media. If it contains any identifiable features weather personal or garment wise then please inform Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations.
17.0 Home Studio
17.1 Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations works from a home studio and a single cat does also live at the premise. Seamstress Honeybee has made this information public and accessible. It is the responsibility of the client to inform Seamstress Honeybee if there are allergic to cats.
17.1a If a client has informed Seamstress Honeybee, they are allergic to cats Seamstress Honeybee will ensure that the cat is separated from the home studio before the appointment and that the home studio is cleaned to ensure minimal contamination.
17.1b Seamstress Honeybee will ensure the garment for the duration of the work is kept separated to the best of their ability, however by using the services of Seamstress Honeybee the client accepts liability if contamination does occur.
17.2 Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & alterations reserved the right to not release the garment until payment has been received.
17.3 When fabric has been bought, should the client wish to change it, the additional cost of the new fabric will be added to the final invoice. Note: changes cannot be made once the fabric has been cut without incurring an extra charge for cutting in addition to the new fabric. Any fabric not used will be returned to the client.
18.0 Copyrights/Trademarks
18.1. All content and materials available on seamstresshoneybee.com and associated marketing material including price lists, including but not limited to text, graphics, website name, code, images and logos are the intellectual property of Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations, and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark law. Any inappropriate use, including but not limited to the reproduction, distribution, display or transmission of any content on this site is strictly prohibited, unless specifically authorized by Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations.
19.0 Termination of Use
19.1. You agree that we may, at our sole discretion, suspend or terminate your access to all or part of our website, resources and commercial properties with or without notice and for any reason, including, without limitation, breach of this User Agreement and Terms & Conditions of Sale. Any suspected illegal, fraudulent or abusive activity may be grounds for terminating your relationship and may be referred to appropriate law enforcement authorities. Upon suspension or termination, your right to use the Resources or services we provide will immediately cease, and we reserve the right to remove or delete any information that you may have on file with us, including any account information.
20. Governing Law
20.1. This website is controlled by Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations from our offices located in Lancashire, UK. It can be accessed by most countries around the world and we do indeed have customers from across the world. As each country has laws that may differ from those of the UK, by accessing our website, you agree that the statutes and laws of the UK, without regard to the conflict of laws and the United Nations Convention on the International Sales of Goods, will apply to all matters relating to the use of this website and the purchase of any products or services through this site and in-person at our commercial premises namely: 2 Cherry Tree Apartments, 82 Hambledon Road, Waterlooville, PO7 6UP.
22. Limitation of Liabilities
22.1. Our liability in contract, tort or otherwise arising out of the subject matter of the Contract shall not exceed the original price of the contract. Under no circumstances will We be liable to You for any consequential, indirect or economic loss.

23.2. The contract between Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations and the customer shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute between us will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales. If any part of these Terms is found to be void or unenforceable by any Court of competent jurisdiction, such part shall be severed from these Terms which will otherwise remain in full force and effect.
23.3. We may change these terms and conditions from time to time without prior notification to you. Any changes will only apply to future orders.
Your statutory rights are unaffected.
24.0 Your Rights and Obligations
24.1 Consistent with standard practices in the alterations industry, Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations trained seamstresses will need to, at times, address sensitive areas of the customer in order to achieve accurate alteration results for a garment. This includes, but is not limited to: pinning and/or chalking the bust area of both men’s and women’s garments, pinning and/or chalking the seat and crotch area of a garment, and other areas the customer may feel is sensitive.
24.2. By utilizing Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations for any fitting consultation or appointment regardless of whether a transaction takes place following the fitting, the customer explicitly grants fitters, tailors and/or seamstresses’ permission to address sensitive areas, as needed, to achieve optimal results. If the customer, for any reason, does not want a sensitive area to be addressed, then it is the customer’s sole responsibility to voice his/her concerns with Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations staff prior to or at ANY time during their fitting. We are committed to promoting a completely safe and comfortable environment for clients and staff.
24.3. In the event that a customer chooses to forgo the marking, chalking and/or pinning of the garment in any area due to the customer’s preferences, the customer understands that i) the alteration quality may be compromised, ii) Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations cannot guarantee the result(s) of the alteration(s), AND iii) that Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations may need to follow up with a second round of alterations. If a second round of alterations is required in the above instance, Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations reserves the right to charge the customer for the additional alterations. The customer also has the right to ask Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations pany to work with a fitter of the same gender to perform and/or complete the fitting for the customer. The customer expressly agrees that Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations is not liable for any sexual harassment claims, negligence or any other damages against Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations sought by the customer when the customer engages Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations for a fitting in any capacity,
24.4. We offer initial consultations at no charge to our non-bridal customers. In the event that a customer does not want to move forward with the alterations after the fitting, our tailors or seamstresses, will remove all pins and chalk marks, if applicable. Fittings done by an Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations are solely the property and intellectual property of Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations. Pins cannot be left in any garment under any circumstance unless the client is proceeding with alterations with Seamstress Honeybee Repairs & Alterations regardless of whether a transaction follows the fitting.
